Essential First Aid Kit Items

Injury & Illness Prevention
☐ Wear moisture-wicking socks & break in boots to prevent blisters

☐ Monitor hydration & electrolyte intake to avoid dehydration
☐ Dress appropriately for weather to prevent hypothermia or heat exhaustion
Hygiene & Cleanliness

☐ Trowel for digging catholes (at least 6-8 inches deep, 200 feet from water)
☐ Pack-out system for used toilet paper & feminine hygiene products
☐ Microfiber cloth or unscented wipes for body cleaning
☐ Camp shoes to let boots dry & air out feet
☐ Extra pair of dry socks & clean clothes for sleeping

Gear & Cookware Cleaning
☐ Biodegradable soap for cookware
☐ Scraper or cloth for removing food residue
☐ Strainer or bandana to filter food waste & pack it out
☐ Drying system (hang gear or use absorbent cloth)
Emergency First Aid & Evacuation
☐ Know the signs of dehydration, heat stroke, hypothermia, and infections
☐ Have a plan for treating serious wounds & fractures
☐ Carry a whistle (three blasts = distress signal)
☐ Pack a bright-colored item or reflective material for visibility
☐ Have a satellite communicator, PLB, or emergency contact system
